Dry skin could be caused by your own body or through outside factors. If it is caused by outside factors it could possibly be because of a dry climate, hard water, or a windy environment. You could also have a lack of truly fresh air in your house. To fix this try using a humidifier or a water conditioner and you should be able to eliminate the majority of your skin issues. If that doesn't work, you'll need something more effective, such as a treatment or lotion of sorts.
Causes for dry skin may be plenty. Mostly it could be genetic but not always. Dry skin is mostly because of the cold climate or hard water. It might be caused due to the less amount of lubrication to the skin. Sometimes, people with combination skin might also be under the affect of the dry skin. The best treatment to take care of dry skin would be using a good moisturizer. Avoid application of products related to lemon which might make skin even more dry.

Dry skin needs plenty of thorough but gentle cleansing, regular stimulation with massage and generous quantities of oil and moisture. It also needs extra careful protection. Washing dry skin with soap and water not only removes grime but also the natural oils protecting the skin. A moisturizer increases the water content of the outer layers of the skin and gives it a soft, moist look.
Hormonal changes, especially with menopause can affect the skin. As you get older, you need to do all you can to keep your skin from drying out.
