he Somerset County commissioners passed a resolution Tuesday acknowledging that one of the best ways to combat the growing problem of food allergies is to invest in research.

The resolution calls for Congress and the Pennsylvania congressional delegation to increase funding for research to discover a cure for food allergies.

“I have friends who deal with food allergies,” said county Commissioner Pamela Tokar-Ickes. “It is life-threatening and life-changing for families.”

It's sad to have food allergies. I am personally allergic to peanuts and it feels bad not being able to eat PBJ sandwiches...
