In the military and in many other areas the flu shot is mandatory, but should it be? In my personal experience with the shot and with the nasal spray I have gotten sick 3 out of the last 4 years from it. If the concept is to prevent the flu and I'm still getting sick, doesn't that mean that I would have been better off not getting the shot at all? I personally feel it does. As for the serious forms of the flu it is really attempting to prevent wouldn't a young person still be able to fight this off with relative ease anyway? So why are so many places requiring the shot? What do you think? I personally think it should be all about choice in this matter.
No, because it doesn't always work. Unless they can guarantee it, it should not be mandatory.
I think it should be mandatory for small children and the elderly. It doesn't take long for people in those age groups to go from being fine to desperately ill with the flu.

I'm 24 and my mum still nags me every year to get it!
I've never had one, but then I have been lucky to have never ever had the flu in my life Smile I haven't had a cold in more than 10 years either. (Not that I am complaining, mind you Big Grin)

How on earth have you managed that? You must have a great immune system to go that long without getting a cold or flu!

I have no idea about the flu absence, but I believe my daily garlic oil capsule keeps the colds at bay. I have been taking them for about 15 years I guess Smile

My mother in law was telling me just the other day that she has those also. I don't get many colds, maybe one or two a year but mine last about 2 weeks so it might be an idea for me to take them too!

for children probably should be mandatory.. but for adults,
its upon their choice.
